🇸🇬 Drone rules in Singapore

Register any drone over 250 g with CAAS, keep at or below 200 ft (about 60 m), stay more than 5 km from airports and military airbases and out of restricted areas, and get a pilot licence and/or permit depending on weight, location and purpose — business flying always needs a licence plus permits.

Before you fly: drone rules change and vary by location. This page is a general summary, not legal advice. Confirm the current rules with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) (official site). You are responsible for flying legally and safely.
Do I need to register my drone?
Yes if the total weight is over 250 g — for recreational, educational or business use, indoors and outdoors. Register with CAAS and mark the drone with its registration number. Drones 250 g or lighter do not need to be registered.
Do I need a licence or test?
For recreational flying outdoors: no certificate up to 1.5 kg; a Basic Training Certificate or UA Pilot Licence for over 1.5 kg up to 7 kg; and a UA Pilot Licence above 7 kg. Business/non-recreational flying outdoors always requires a UA Pilot Licence regardless of weight.
Is Remote ID required?
Yes — a Broadcast Remote ID module is required for drones over 250 g flown outdoors. Indoor flights are exempt.
What is the maximum altitude?
200 ft (about 60 m) above mean sea level for permit-free flying. Going above 200 ft requires a UA Activity Permit.
Where can't I fly?
No flying in prohibited areas at any time. Flying within 5 km of any civil aerodrome or military airbase, in restricted or danger areas, or above 200 ft requires a UA Activity Permit; protected areas need a Singapore Police Force permit. Most of Singapore falls within at least one such zone, and penalties are severe.
